The right tools, location, and electrical outlet for installing your wall fountains Tools With most wall water fountains, installation requires just a few basic tools. Location
A wall water fountain can be installed on most types of wall materials, but the heavier your water fountain is, the more careful you'll need to be. Install your massive lion-head fountain on a plaster wall, and it's likely to collapse and turn your living room floor into a water safari. The safest choice is to mount your wall fountain directly into a wood or metal stud.
Wall fountains not only provide a pleasant sound, but they're also visually striking. Choose a wall that offers sufficient room for your wall fountain to make a dramatic statement. The wall fountain should be accessible but unobtrusive. You'll need to be able to easily monitor and maintain your wall fountain's water level, but you don't want its bowl or basin to get bumped - or become a drinking fountain for pets, children, or drunken relatives.
Electricity
Another important factor when choosing a location for your wall fountain is proximity to an electrical outlet. Visible electrical cords tend to ruin a fountain's naturalism, so you may wish to have an electrician install a ground-fault circuit interrupter outlet in the spot where you plan to hang your wall fountain. Ask the electrician to wire the GFCI outlet to a wall switch so that you don't have to reach behind the fountain every time you want to turn it off.
